Sensei Del Phillips 4th Dan


Del began training in 1986 with Saltash Bujinkai under Jim Hicks, Derek Spry and Bob Everington.

In 1990 Del became a member of the Bujinkai Great Britain Karate squad and competed in both Kata and Kumite. He was coached at the time by Sensei Paul Smith, Sensei Bob Rowe and Sensei Dave Madison.
Del’s other coaches have included Shihan John Smith and Sensei Colin Garnet.  Del has also trained under Sensei Ticky Donavan.

Sensei Phillips has competed and had success in numerous tournaments, including the EKGB British Championships, Welsh National Championships, BKA South West National Championships, English Open Kata Championships, British Open Championships and the Gôdôryu National Championships.
After leaving Bujinkai Karate, Sensei Phillips decided to join Gôdôryu karate in 2000 under former Kata and Kumite coaches Shihan Paul Smith and Shihan Bob Rowe.
Sensei Phillips is a qualified FEKO coach and in 2008 opened his own Gôdôryu club in Saltash along with Sempai Mandy Smith.
 
Sensei Phillips is a respected member of the Gôdôryu Karate Association and still actively competes in tournaments.
In 2006 Sensei Phillips was appointed the position of Gôdôryu Kata coach and runs regular squad sessions for selected students.  The Gôdôryu Kata squad has had success at National level. Sensei Phillips regularily attends FEKO Squad training sessions and in May 2010 was selected for the Squad.

In November 2010, Sensei Phillips was awarded 4th Dan.
